Democratic Confederalism. A concept for a society beyond state and patriarchy.
7. Oktober 2018 9:15:17:00
Under the conditions of the AKP regime in Turkey and in the midst of the Syrian civil war, people from different ethnic groups are trying together to set up a social organization that will enable a good life for all. With a system of councils that begin in the neighbourhoods and continue until to production, the social processes are to be regulated according to useful criteria. Patriarchal structures and sexist violence are being tackled in particular. This fight is fought first and foremost by its own women’s councils. Following the concept of democratic confederalism of Abdullah Öcalan the aim is to overcome the nation state and capitalism in favour of a grassroots democratic society.
Sinan Önal provides an introduction to the theoretical principles and practical implementation of this concept.
